5.26.10

Summer has been off to a wonderful start! The weather is still lacking however. My friend Alissa and I are pen pals during our 3 month break, and I got my first letter from her summarily after returning from the choir tour. Tonight I helped make dinner with my mother, a task I enjoy very much. I realize I have a slight addiction of taking pictures of any and all food...I simply can't help it. Fresh vegetables and their colors, not to mention their taste, are just so beautiful! And fresh vegetables are all we use, by the way. We get a box from a local farmer once a week that is filled with all the "in-season goodies." (Strawberries, carrots, lettuce, onions...and more).
My family is coming into town today and tomorrow because Nathan is graduating college on Saturday! We are so excited to celebrate this with him, and it will be good to have a busy house once again. Still missing the love, of course, but I have been lucky enough to see his face on skype a couple times since the last post. He is as handsome as ever, and Indonesia has been treating him quite well. It will be nice to see him in person once again, although the countdown still continues. (9 weeks to go!)
8 and a half if you want to get technical.....

5.21.10

I spent a wonderful week touring the Bay Area with my University's Choir. We went to San Jose, San Francisco, Brentwood, and Los Gatos. It consisted of singing, bus rides, exploring, host-homes, lots of free food, plenty of coffee, and a little shopping too. I was able to meet some really wise people and was encouraged daily throughout the week. I was reminded of my immense love for music, and am getting excited about the options I have open to me for the future.
The love has been gone for almost two weeks, and to say I miss him terribly would be an understatement. I will get to skype him tonight for the first time since he left, and I am a ball of nerves just waiting. I cannot wait. I am so proud of him and am beyond thankful for his precious life and the extreme impact it has on everyone he meets. He is something special. How did I get so lucky?
Summer is in bloom, even though the weather has been suggesting otherwise. Time to work on that tan, maybe attend some graduation parties (including my oldest brother Nathan's! college graduate whoo!) and then get ready to tackle some online math.
Hope everyone is doing beautifully.
